The African Greens Federation calls upon the Mauritius Government and the Private Sector to urgently consider the matter reparations for the Mauritian descendants of slaves, known locally as the Creoles, through a Green Reparation Foundation (GRF).

Egypt: Global Greens urge immediate end of violence and restoration of democracy

The Global Greens utterly condemn the massacre perpetrated by the military against supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo, Alexandria and other centres in Egypt on 14 August 2013.

The violent dissolution of the sit-ins in Al-Nahda Square and Raba’a al-Adawiyya demonstrates that the military forces in Egypt are not responding to the ongoing social and political crisis in Egypt in a democratic and peaceful manner.

North African Greens Federation Established and Other Important Achievements

The representatives of North African Green Parties from Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco who met in Cairo-Egypt from 6th -9th June 2013, unanimously decided to establish the North African Greens Federation (NAGF).

The Headquarters of this regional federation shall be located in Cairo-Egypt and the secretariat shall be hosted by the Egyptian Green Party.

Southern Africa Greens Federation Established in Maputo, Mozambique

The leaders and representatives of Southern Africa Green Parties and political movements from Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa, Lesotho and Zimbwabwe who met in Maputo, Mozambique from 26th -27th May 2013, unanimously decided to set up the Southern Africa Greens Federation (SAGF).

The headquarters of this regional federation shall be located in Lusaka, Zambia.

AGF Executive has Approved Ms.Robinah Nanyunja as our new Acting Treasurer

The AGF Executive Committee has approved Madame Robinah Nanyunja from the Ecological Party of Uganda as our new Acting Treasurer.

The Treasurer position became vacant after Mr.Charles Lwanga was relieved from his duties recently.

It become very difficult for AGF Executive and AGF Secretariat to handle financial matters without a Treasurer.

Our financial procedural manual clearly states that all financial transactions must be endorsed by the Treasurer and could not therefore wait till the next congress.

Mr.Charles Lwanga Bbaale No Longer AGF's Treasurer

This is to inform the entire public that Mr.Charles Lwanga Bbaale is no longer the Treasurer of the African Greens Federation.

The decision to relieve him from his duties, was taken by the AGF's Executive Committee on 3rd April 2013 after a four months investigation in the misallocation of funds meant for the Ecological Party of Uganda, which he has accepted to refund in writing.

Anyone who deals with him in the names of AGF, does so, on his or her own risk.

Honorary Doctorate of Humanities Conferred Upon Dr.Frank Habineza

On 15th March 2013, Dr.Frank Habineza, Founding President of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, recieved a Honorary Doctorate of Humanities, from Bethel College, Mishiwaka, Indiana, USA.

The degree was presented in honor of his work in promoting democratic reforms and human rights in Rwanda and across Africa.

Dr.Habineza, is also the President of the African Greens Federation- a coalition of green political parties and political movements across Africa, with headquaters in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso.

African Greens Federation Recorded Great Success during 2012

The African Greens Federation (AGF) registered a lot of success during 2012. This was a year where most of the African Greens dreams were able to come true.

During 2012, AGF in collaboration with the Global Greens Coordination and other partners were able to hold the Third Global Greens Congress in Dakar, Senegal between March and April 2012. This congress was a turning point for the Greens of the world.

During the Extra-Ordinary West African Greens Congress of 19th -21st October held in Niamey, Niger.

Lancement officielle du Siège Social de la Fédération des Verts d’Afrique

 Après plusieurs années de lutte, les écologistes et verts d’Afrique sont reconnus sous la dénomination « Fédération des Verts d’Afrique » en abrégée FEVA. La structure continentale a désormais son siège implanté à Ouagadougou au Burkina Faso.  Le quartier général de cette union et son bureau exécutif présidé par le Rwandais Frank HABINEZA a été présenté à la presse le 21 juillet. 

 Les faits remontent en avril 2010 à Kampala en Ouganda où s’était tenu le congrès constitutif de la Fédération des Verts d’Afrique (FEVA).
