Global Greens meet in Bolivia to find Green solutions to global problems

The annual meeting of the Global Greens Coordination (GGC) takes place this week in La Paz, Bolivia, between November 24th and 27th, 2013 and is followed by the Federation of Greens of the Americas (FPVA) congress from November 27th to 29th, 2013. The GGC is the coordinating body of the Global Green movement and comprise more than 80 Green parties worldwide. Specific areas where we will seek to deepen our agreements and intensify our work during these meetings include the following

Global Greens call for Gaddafi’s resignation and an immediate end to the bloody repression in Libya

The Global Greens call in the strongest possible terms for an immediate halt to the bloody crackdown launched by the regime of Colonel Gaddafi and his clan against Libyan protesters. The bombing of unarmed people whose only 'crime' is going to the streets to protest, if confirmed, constitutes a crime against humanity. Similarly, the use of mercenary forces to attack unarmed civilians is a flagrant human rights violation. Colonel Gaddafi should resign.

Assassination of Rwandan Greens Vice President Mr Andre Kagwa Rwisereka

The Global Greens express their deep shock and sadness at the murder of Rwandan Greens Vice President Mr Andre Kagwa Rwisereka on 13 July 2010. Mr Rwisereka was a prominent member of the Rwandan Greens who have been systematically blocked from registering as a political party. The assassination of André Kagwa Rwisereka is a tragic event that requires a strong reaction from the Rwandan institutions. The murderers of André Kagwa Rwisereka must be identified and brought to justice.

Global Greens mourn Floribert Chebeya

The Global Greens express their great sadness at the death of leading Congolese human rights activist Floribert Chebeya and strongly endorse the European Greens' call for an inquiry. We send our deep condolences and sympathy to Mr Chebeya's family and friends.

Mr Floribert Chebeya, a leading human rights defender in the Democratic Republic of Congo was killed in suspicious circumstances on Tuesday 1st or Wednesday 2nd June.

The Global Greens endorse the comments of European Greens Spokespersons Monica Frassoni and Philippe Lamberts.

Global Greens urgently call on Rwandan President Paul Kagame to remove obstacles to the creation of Green Party in his country

The Global Greens today called for urgent and clear intervention by Rwandan President Paul Kagame to assure the democratic rights and security of the peaceful, democratic, green activists who participated in the Founding Congress of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) held on the 30th October 2009.
