AGF International Conference in Burkina

The African Greens Federation, held its first International Conference on Elections and Campaigns in Ouagadougou-Burkina Faso, from 15th -16th August 2015.

The international conference was preceded by a regional training of the West African Green Parties Federation on Green Ideology and the Environment, from 13th -14th.

Participants came from Zambia, Rwanda, Niger, Senegal, Mali, Togo, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.

The International Conference on Elections came at the right time in Burkina’s politics, since the President of our sister Party in Burkina Faso, Mr.Ram Ouegraogo, is a presidential candidate and the Party (RDEBF) has already submitted candidates for parliamentary elections.

The elections are due in October and electoral campaigns will begin in September.  This conference provided a platform of sharing experiences from other elections.

The former Prime Minister of Niger, Mr.Mahamoudou Danda, who was heading an election observer mission in the past Nigerian Elections, shared a lot of experience from Nigeria’s elections and discussed a lot of practical matters, which proved very helpful to all the potential candidates in Burkina Faso and other delegates.

Due to the importance of this meeting, it was decided that another training on elections planned for West Africa, be dedicated to both Young Greens and Women Greens, before the Burkina Elections. This regional training will be held in Togo from 10th-13th September 2015.

A full congress report is attached for further details.
